Welcome to our 4C classroom!
Welcome to our 4C class website. This has been a terrific year, and each day just gets better and better. I have several years of experience in middle school classes, but this is my first year in 4th grade and I am loving it! I am a New Mexico State University graduate and have lived in El Paso for over 25 years. Even though I have lived in the tropics of Central America, the desert Southwest is my home.
We have recently completed the STAAR tests, but we continue to fill every day of the final weeks of this school year with the fun of learning! Of course, we tried to fill the past several months of this school year with fun learning also, but as we wind down the year, we hope to engage in even more projects and activities. To begin, our class is observing the metamorphosis of the Painted Lady Butterflies! We have watched six small larvae grow into six fairly large caterpillars, and we are now anxiously awaiting the grand openings from their chrysalis stage!
My philosophy is to teach children how to learn rather than focusing on a particular academic lesson to memorize. Therefore, we have been concentrating on strategies of learning and how to apply them to reading, writing, science, and math. It is amazing how our reading strategies are also important in figuring out word problems in math! I hope the children are able to take these strategies into their futures and become the wonderful success stories that I know each child is capable of becoming!
Please contact me with any questions or concerns about your child. My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org or you can call the school office to set up an appointment during my conference period – 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
